Not From this world, but For this world!

Pilate asked Jesus, “Are you King of the Jews?”

Jesus answered, “My kingdom is not from this world. If my kingdom were from this world, my followers would be fighting to keep me from being handed over to the Jews. But as it is, my kingdom is not from here.”
— John 18:36

What is interesting in Jesus’s reply is that he says his kingdom is not FROM this world. This does not mean it isn’t FOR this world. In the show “The Story of the Jews”, the Jewish moderator talks about how when the Jewish people look at the world of Christendom they don’t see the “peace that transcends understanding” inwhich the Messiah will bring.

What is interesting is that when Christ died on the cross, he defeated evil as an army of ONE. Nobody else got it! Look at his followers at that moment time time. Peter, the man who was to build his church had denied Jesus three times and the rest where no where to be found!

No one got it yet, though he revealed how we are to join him in this defeat:

“So I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. Whenever you stand praying, forgive, if you have anything against anyone; so that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses.”
— Mark 11:24–25

Notice what Jesus says right after telling us that when we pray and believe we will receive; he states that we are to pray in a state of forgiveness so that we can receive the Fathers forgiveness. Jesus’ Kingdom is one of love, grace and FORGIVENESS!

How do we forgive? Take Jesus’ posture towards our enemies of “Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they are doing”.

The peace that transcends understanding is here now, we just need to step into it!
